Many DC row-houses- especially on Capitol Hill- suffer from a frustrating lack of width due to open side courts at the rear of the house. For this project, we removed the rear portion of the house, and closed-in the dog-leg with a two story addition. Our lovely clients gained a larger kitchen, an additional bedroom, a relocated washer dryer, an new bathroom, and a much improved connection to the back yard with sliding accordian windows, pass-through countertops, and French doors.
